This is a birthday gift for my long-time friend, Her birthday was a few days ago and I was going to have this done on Sunday but couldn't get it done due to personal issues I had to deal with that day. DX
Anyway, this features one of her favorite pairings, opticshipping (Pegasus x Shizuka). I thought I would use the "Music of the Night" scene from the Phantom of the Opera because Pegsy seems like the perfect Phantom, and Shizuka is so sweet and innocent (and slightly naive) like Christine. I didn't know if you liked Phantom or not, so I apologize if you dislike this movie/musical, Yamiko. Hope you like it anyway and Happy (belated) Birthday. Luv ya bunches. :3
Yu-Gi-Oh : Kazuki Takahashi
Phantom of the Opera : Gaston Leroux
Reference pose : Phantom of the Opera DVD cover
drawing : myself
Rikku's notes: Normally I dislike setting things to critique not desired, but this is set to critique not desired due to: -my pen and colored pencils messing up (they were not cooperating with me today and my pen ran out of ink so I had to switch to a new one) -my lousy attempt at replicating the canopy bed from the scene in the movie -I did not get the details down really well. It was really hard for me to find a decent reference of the Phantom's and Christine's outfits from that scene. o-o; -The mere fact that this is a gift made for a friend and I do not want rabid Yu-Gi-Oh fans flaming me because of the pairing, or rabid Phantom of the Opera fans flaming me because they don't like Yu-Gi-Oh or something

Yeah, the arm is a tad too long (and there actually are a bunch of other errors in the picture too o-o; ). I need more practice with the male anatomy...
Thanks. ^^
Yeah, the reference image was really dark. @_@ I love the pose but it's really difficult to make out all the details...
A tip for using dark reference images. If you have graphics editing software, take the image and mess with the light levels. In Photoshop, you just hit ctrl and u and it brings up this dialog box. From there you can lighten it.
Then again, since you did this using traditional media, I'm now thinking that you're just looking right at the DVD cover itself and not an an image on a computer screen...
First off, everyone here at deviantART would like to say THANK YOU!!! We have received an overwhelming amount of enthusiasm for the launch of version 6 and believe that this has been our best-received launch to date.

`karemelancholia is one of the most genuine deviants you could ever met. Always active and a true deviantART cheerleader and supporter in every aspect. You can always count on her to lend a hand or get involved, and you usually will find her doing large amounts of both at any given moment. She's consistently reports on contests around dA, showcases the efforts of her fellow artists and shows her charitable side through various activities. Besides all of this, she's a truly talented artist which is why she's an obvious choice for deviousness this month. Read More

When I use reference images, I sometimes change things about them to make it my own.
Glad you like the picture though ^^
